Welcome to the Landau Lab, where we investigate microbial amyloid fibrils, which serve as key “weapons” making infections more aggressive. In addition, we identify and explore peptides produced across kingdoms of life that provide antimicrobial protection and form amyloid fibrils. We seek to determine the high-resolution structures of these virulent and antimicrobial amyloids, to correlate the structure to specific functions, and elucidate the mechanisms underlining their regulation and activities.
